Top 3 Biggest Series Comebacks in History
3. 1975 Islanders vs Penguins: The Penguins had a 3 games-to-none lead over the New York Islanders in the 1975 Quarterfinals, when the resilient Islanders began to fight back. Not only did they merely fight back, they never even trailed from Game 4 through Game 7, and completely turned the series around.
2. 2010 Flyers vs Bruins: The Bruins held a 3-0 series lead in the Eastern Conference Semifinals and were poised to take the series in a sweep, but the Flyers would have none of that, scoring in Overtime at home in Game 4. They took the series to a Game 7, but found themselves trailing by 3 goals early on. They bounced back and won the game, 4-3, stunning the Boston fans, and eventually making the Cup Finals.
1. 1942 Maple Leafs vs Red Wings: This 3-0 comeback came back in 1942, in none other than the Stanley Cup Finals between the Red Wings and Maple Leafs. This was also the first Stanley Cup Final to go 7 games. After dropping the first 3, the Leafs battled back, winning a close one 4-3, then routing the Wings 9-3. They would then allow only one goal for the remainder of the series, and won 3-0 and 3-1 to take the Cup to Toronto, capping the greatest Playoff Comeback of all time.

Wayne Gretzky
Wayne Gretzky was the greatest hockey player ever not because he had the hardest shot, or because he was the best skater, or faster than everybody else. He was the best player because of his passing ability and his ability to see the ice. He was always 3 or more steps ahead of everybody else and it allowed him to make plays that nobody else could make. The playoff moment of the day shows the most amazing pass I have ever seen. A behind the back pass in which he LED COFFEY with the puck. INCREDIBLE. It takes insane amounts of skill to know first of all where Coffey was. and second to know WHERE HE WAS GOING TO BE! He passed to where people were going to be, not to where they were. This combination of vision and passing skill is what made Wayne the Greatest.

Top 5 Greatest NHL Rivalries
5. Pittsburgh Penguins/Washington Capitals: This rivalry has always been Crosby vs Ovechkin. In this regard, Washington has the upper hand in terms of skill. But on the other hand, the Pens have won a Cup, in a year in which they defeated Washington in 7 games to advance.
4. Pittsburgh Penguins/Philadelphia Flyers: This rivalry gets so heated mainly due to the raunchiness of the Flyers fans, who love to start fights, throw things, etc. But the battle of Pennsylvania doesn't stop with that, oh no. These are two great teams that fight for pride and glory every time they step on the ice against each other, and this year's playoff series showed the skill and toughness of each team. Upper-hand goes to Philly, due to their recent pounding of the Penguins.
3.Chicago Blackhawks/Detroit Redwings: This rivalry is as old as time itself. The "Detroit Sucks!" chants can be heard throughout the rafters of the United Center and the Redwings aren't too fond of the Hawks, either. The proximity of the two teams allows for a great rivalry, in which the Redwings have had the upper hand in, but recently have not.
2. Toronto Maple Leafs/Montreal Canadiens: The two hockey capitals of the world collide all the team for Canadian bragging rights and for pride, glory, and of course, 2 points in the standings (or a series lead). These two teams hate each other, because of their long history and fantastic players, this rivalry extends back for a long time. The Canadiens have the upper-hand in this rivalry, but recently neither team has been very dominant.
1. Chicago Blackhawks/Vancouver Canucks: This rivalry has it all: a playoff history, big moments, player rivalries you name it, it's got it. Alex Burrows is HATED by every Blackhawks fan, just as Kane is loathed by the Canucks. Luongo is a joke to Hawks fans, while Crawford can give the Canucks nightmares when his game is on. When the heat is on, the Hawks have the upper hand in this rivalry.

Underrated Superstar
I believe that Mike Bossy is perhaps the most underrated player of all time. Everyone talks about Gretzky, Lemieux, and Orr, but Bossy belongs in the same breath as them. He scored 60 or more goals FIVE times during his short ten year career, 50 goals NINE times, and had 38 goals his final year. That's right, he had NINE 50 goal seasons in a row. The only other player to do that? Wayne Gretzky. He scored 50 goals in 50 games for the first time since Rocket Richard and won 4 straight Stanley Cups with the New York Islanders. He is perhaps the most underrated player in NHL history.

Baun's goal wins the championship. To score the game-winning overtime goal in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup finals is amazing in itself, but to score it ON A BROKEN LEG!??! That is simply incredible.

Top 8 Current NHL Forwards
8. Claude Giroux: What a player. He had a real breakout year this year, and was up near the top of the league in points and assists. A true playmaker, he also really shines in the playoffs as he takes his game to another level. You want this guy on your team.
7. Evgeni Malkin: This guy is a true Russian powerhouse, with the speed and skill to go one-on-one with any defender out there. His skills earned him 50 goals this year and he won the Conn Smythe trophy in 2009 when the Penguins won the Stanley Cup.
6. Ilya Kovalchuk: His consistent play has earned him a spot here. He had scored 40 or more goals SIX years in a row, a very impressive feat, and is one of the premiere superstars in the game. His wicked shot allows him to score from almost anywhere.
5. Steven Stamkos: Much like Kovalchuk, his shot allows him to score from nearly anywhere. He is a MASTER at finding open ice in order to score, and had a career high, astounding 60 goals this season, one of only 10 players to hit the 60 goal plateau.
4. Jonathan Toews: His two-way style has earned him the Conn Smythe trophy as Playoff MVP, and should win him a few Selke trophies in his career. A member of the Hawks that I think will someday have his number retired as well as make it to the Hall of Fame, Jonathan Toews has every tool that a hockey player needs to be successful. He has scoring touch, passing abilities, speed, strength, passion, and drive as well as defensive prowess and the ability to be a two-way player. He is the best captain in the league: Always serious, always on task, always leading by example,
3. Pavel Datsyuk: An absolute wizard with the puck, Datsyuk is the best of theWest. His amazing hands allow him to pull off moves that other players couldn't even think of doing, much less pulling them off in a game situation. His passing ability is superb and he has a wicked, quick shot that has fooled many a goaltender.
2. Sidney Crosby: What can be said about Crosby other that the fact that he is the best playmaker in the game today. Gretzky himself commented on Crosby's playmaking ability, and to get a compliment from the Great One on what he did best is nothing to scoff at. Crosby has a tendency to be injured but when he is healthy he is near impossible to stop.
1. Alex Ovechkin: Crosby may be nearly impossible to stop, but Ovechkin is PHYSICALLY impossible to stop. From his goal in Phoenix that became famous, to his goals today, he is a force to be reckoned with. The greatest goal-scorer of this era, Ovechkin has slowed down a little bit, but still scored enough to deposit 38 goals into the net last season and lead his team past the Boston Bruins in the first round of the playoffs. Ovechkin has a passion and love for the game that is not seen anywhere else at such a magnitude. He just loves to score goals!
7. Evgeni Malkin: This guy is a true Russian powerhouse, with the speed and skill to go one-on-one with any defender out there. His skills earned him 50 goals this year and he won the Conn Smythe trophy in 2009 when the Penguins won the Stanley Cup.

Top 8 Best NHL Teams History
8. '97 Red Wings: This team was the first of the Russian invasion in the NHL. The "Wizards of Oav showed that Russian players could have a huge impact on the game, and the Wings drafted smarter than anybody else in the NHL to put this Cup-winning team together. Larionov, Fedorov, Fetisov, Kozlov, and Mironov led the Russian invasion while Yzerman, Shannahan, Lapointe, Brown, Lidstrom, and Murphy led the rest of the group to their first Cup in about 40 years.
7. '94 Rangers: This team is on the list because of their tremendous ability to play under pressure and, of course, for their amazing team. Mark Messier, Glenn Anderson, Steve Larmer, Mike Richter, Brian Leetch, Adam Graves, Sergei Zubov, Alexei Kovelev, Mike Gartner and company led the team to their first Cup in 54 years.
6. '02 Red Wings: This Red Wings team was superpowered. They had the Dominator, Dominick Hasek, in net, along with a star-studded lineup with Steve Yzerman, Brenden Shannahan, Pavel Datsyuk, Sergei Fedorov, Igor Larionov, Niklas Lidstrom, and Chris Chelios, as well as Brett Hull and Luc Robitaille. They had 116 regular season points, and captured the Stanley Cup.
5. '92 Penguins: Any team with Lemieux on it is going to be amazing, but how about you add Jaromir Jagr, Tom Barasso, Kevin Stevens, Mark Recchi, Larry Murphy, Joe Mullen, Paul Coffey, and Ron Francis on the team, along with an aging Bryan Trottier? You get a powerhouse team, one of the greatest of all time. This team didn't have a stellar regular season, but swept the Cup Finals in 4 games to win their second straight Cup.
4. '74 Flyers: Led by Captain Bobby Clarke and stellar goalie Bernie Parent, the Flyers would become the first expansion team to win the Stanley Cup. Parent was excellent, with 47 wins during the regular season, and 16 in the playoffs to bring the Flyers their first Stanley Cup. They were better known as the "Broad Street Bullies", and are on this list because they could out-tough any team in history, which allowed them to win.
3. '82 Islanders: This Islanders team, led by superstar Mike Bossy and clutch goaltender Billy Smith, was one of their 4 straight Cup-winning teams during the early eighties. This team didn't just win the cup: They owned it. With players like Bossy, Trottier, Gillies, Potvin, Nystrom, two Sutters, and Tonelli, they were truly a force to be reckoned with. They won 54 games that year, including their third straight Cup.
2. '77 Canadiens: This is a team that won 60 games during the regular season, and won the Stanley Cup as well. Led by Guy Lafleur, Larry Robinson, Yvon Cournoyer, Pete Mahovlich, Jacques Lemaire, Guy Lapointe, and goaltender Ken Dryden, this was one of the best lineups in history. Put this team against almost any other team and they will win a best of seven series EVERY time.
1. '84 Oilers: I just wrote that the '77 Canadiens could beat almost any team in a 7 game series? This team is the reason for the almost. Wayne Gretzky, Paul Coffey, Mark Messier, Grant Fuhr, Jari Kurri, Esa Tikkanen, Glenn Anderson, this team was a monster. They didn't just BEAT teams, they DESTROYED them. For example, here are some games in which they won. They beat New Jersey 13-4, Vancouver 12-2, and Calgary 9-2. They beat the defending Cup champions (and winner of four straight Cups), the New York Islanders, and captured their first Stanley Cup. This is the greatest team ever to play.

Top 5 Craziest Arenas in the NHL
5. Rogers Arena (Vancouver): Wasn't destroyed in the riot, but the fact that they have fans that destroy things when they lose puts them on this list
4. Bell Centre (Montreal): Not as legendary as the forum, but JESUS it is loud in there! Montreal is crazy about hockey.
3. Wells Fargo Center (Flyers): This place is insane, just crazy. Do not wear the opposing team jersey here, it os not even safe.
2. Verizon Center (Washington): When Ovi scores, the place just goes absolutely nuts. From the smoke that shoots out to the awesome goal horn/siren, this place is crazy.
1. United Center (Chicago): We are talking insane. It's called the Madhouse on Madison for a reason. One listen to the anthem will turn you into a believer. In the finals it was measured to be 122 decibals, about twice as loud as any other arena (because sound doubles every decibal or so). Just unreal.

Top 5 Worst NHL Jerseys
5. 2012 New York Islanders: These alternate jerseys are pitiful. Awful colors, terrible triangle stripe thing going on.
http://gametimeart.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/gta-0120-2012-nyi-3rd.jpg
4. Tampa Bay Lightning: These jerseys are a mess. Really, was the lightning on the sleeve necessary? Really?

3. 1995 LA Kings: These jerseys are puke. They are living puke. This is the most awful logo in NHL history. IT LOOKS LIKE THE BURGER KING!

2.. 1995-1996 St Louis Blues: I give it SOME points for creativity, but this jersey is just awful. Way to much is going on, it looks like just a painting cut up into a jersey. Terrible.

1. 70's Vancouver Canucks: These jerseys absolutely SUCK. From the color, to the logo (or lack thereof) and the V. THE V IS TERRIBLE!

Top 10 Best Jerseys in NHL History
10: 1996 Phoenix Coyotes: I love this jersey. Hate me all you like, I don't care. The avant-garde coyotes with the awesome stripes as well as the colors really work well in this jersey to create something unique.
9. Quebec Nordiques: The fleur de lis is very cool on the waist part of the jersey, and its blue and red are classic.
8. Hartford Whalers. These jerseys are slick due not only to the logo, which is awesome, but to the green, blue, and white color, which are blended perfectly in the jersey to create one of my favorites of all time.
7. 1993 Mighty Ducks of Anaheim: These jerseys are some of my favorites due to the diagonal stripe down the waist section of the jersey. I also love the eggplant purple and green colors of the jersey and the very cool logo.
6. 2012 Tampa Bay Lightning: These are like superhero jerseys. The blue is a PERFECT shade and having only two colors was a brilliant move. The single stripe on each arm and the slick new logo give the jersey a modern feel, but it looks so simple that it has got to be one of the best of all time.
5. Toronto Maple Leafs: The Leafs have these great blue and white jerseys that have that classic Canadian Maple Leaf on them. The logo has changed slightly, but both past and present jerseys are very similar and represent a club that has one of the best histories in the NHL.
4. Minnesota North Stars: These green jerseys are some of my favorites ever, not to mention I think the North Stars had one of the coolest logos ever. Classic look without actually being around for very long.
3. Montreal Canadiens: How can you go wrong with Montreal? They have had the best teams, players, and coaches, so why can't they have some of the best jerseys. The red, white, and blue jerseys are internationally recognizable and symbolize hockey's greatest dynasties.
2. Detroit Red Wings: These jerseys are some of the most classic in the NHL. The red and white go perfectly together and the winged wheel logo is one of the best in sports.
1. Chicago Blackhawks: The greatest jerseys in the history of sports. The logo is legendary, the colors perfect, the stripes are perfectly placed and the jersey is so classic it just belongs in the hall of fame all by itself, no need for a player to wear it.

Top 5 Canuck-Killers
5. Brad Marchand: Had an excellent Finals against Vancouver in 2011 en route to a Cup championship. He even scored 2 goals in game 7 of the finals. He plays so close to the edge and is the type of player that is tough for ANY team to contain.
4. Dustin Brown: Had a hell of a series against the Canucks in the 2012 playoffs, scoring 2 shorthanded goals in the SAME GAME. He also destroyed Henrik Sedin on a CLEAN hit. Very impressive player, and he seems to turn it up against Vancouver.
3. Patrick Kane: Roberto Luongo still cries himself to sleep at night after Patrick Kane's epic Game 6 hattrick against Vancouver in the 2009 playoffs. Roberto Luongo was filmed literally crying in a postgame interview. Total Canuck Killer.
2. Dustin Byfuglien: Scored his second career hattrick in the 2010 second round playoff series against Vancouver, and gave Luongo nightmares with his big body in front of the net. They seemed to have no answer for him and he made them pay.
1. Tim Thomas: Here's a stat for you: 8 goals in 7 games. Vancouver put up these measly 8 goals against a phenomenal Tim Thomas in a series that somehow went 7 games. Tim Thomas was brilliant, stopping everything, and his performance included a Game 7 shutout to win the Cup.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bo7cQ5T07PQ

2012 Finals
This year's finals are not going to have either team from last year, so there will be a new Stanley Cup champion and a new Final matchup, so here is my prediction: Kings vs Flyers, Flyers win in 7. Giroux or Briere wins MVP. I originally had Nashville, but the Kings look like the real deal right now, and they are up 2-0 while Nashville is down 2-0.
Top 5 Dirtiest NHL Players
5. Aaron Asham: Watch the hit on Brayden Schenn. http://mobile.sbnation.com/nhl/2012/4/15/2950584/arron-asham-fight-brayden-schenn-flyers-penguins
Need I say more? Classles and dirty.
4. Todd Bertuzzi: Ended Steve Moore's career with a suckerpunch to the back of the head, fracturing 3 vertabrae. Although not as dirty, this hit earns him a spot on this list for sure.
3. Brad Marchand: One of the guys you hate unless he's on your team. Plays dirty hockey but is very good at it. His clipping penalty on Sami Salo earned him a 5 game suspension.
2. Raffi Torres: His hit on Hossa in Game 3 of the 2012 WCQF was one thing, but to call it a hockey hit? At least Bertuzzi apologized sincerely, at ALL even! Repeat offender. Just a straight up goon.
1. Alex Burrows: This guy pulled Duncan Keith's hair, and kneed him in the balls. He BIT Bergeron's finger. What is he, 4 years old? Dirty, bushleague hockey.
